NCAA – Division 1

Up to 4.5 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare).

Average team size – 10 players.

A program may not fully fund all 4.5 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).

NCAA-Division II

Up to 3.6 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare).

Average team size – 11 players.

A program may not fully fund all 3.6 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).

NCAA – Division III

Division III programs cannot award athletic-based aid.

Must rely on academic scholarships or other non-athletic based sources of funding.

Average team size: 11 players.

NAIA

Up to 5 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare).

Average team size – 10 players.

NJCAA – Junior College (JUCO)

NJCAA Division I

Up to 8 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare).

Average team size – 7 players.

A program may not fully fund all 8 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
