NCAA – Division I

Up to 12 full scholarships per team.

Average team size – 16 players.

A program may not fully fund all 12 (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).

NCAA-Division II

Up to 8 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare).

Average team size – 16 players.

A program may not fully fund all 8 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).

NCAA – Division III

Division III programs cannot award athletic-based aid.

Must rely on academic scholarships or other non-athletic based sources of funding.

Average team size – 15 players.

NAIA

Up to 8 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare).

Average team size – 17 players.

NJCAA – Junior College (JUCO)

Up to 14 full-scholarships per team.

Average team size: 12 players.

Many programs do not fully fund all 14 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
